Independent Research Projects
Pranay - 10th Grade
Pranay came to the mentorship with a lot of programming experience.
He knew he wanted to apply AI to healthcare/medicine, but was struggling to discover a novel project idea and organize the project.
Through working with one of our mentors who specialized in healthcare, he eventually built a novel system for multi-model segmentation of lungs, helping in early cancer detection.
The project won 2nd place at the Massachusetts State Science Fair, and he is now publishing the work in a research journal
Aarya - 9th Grade
As a 9th grader, Aarya came to the program interested in sustainability and plant science but needed help to bring her ideas to life.
Aarya had never done a research project before and didn't know where to start.
Over the course of the program, our mentors guided her from a rough idea to an in-depth research paper documenting her work.
When it came time for the science fair, not only did she make it past the Lexington High School fair, but she also won 3rd place at Regionals among hundreds of competitors.
She is now advancing to the state-wide high school fair as a freshman!
